From the hills to the plains

I just got back from a 10-day trip to Himachal on a workshop on environmentalism. When I was on my way there, I was only thinking of how nice it would be to have a quiet little time in the hills. A quiet time I didn't have. But it was an amazing week that has left me with a bunch of new friends and without a lot of my previous notions about things. Intellectually and emotionally chaotic!! I didn't wanna come back...but now that I'm back in the office with familiar faces around me....it's good to be home.

Oh! And I learned some songs filled with revolutionary fervour as well. Sample this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohSiFn7NExo

And this is another -

Jogira sarara Jogira sarara
Jogira sararararararara

Gangaji ke ghat pe khada ek insaan
pucha usse naam toh bola mein hun hindustan
katora liye kada tha

nayi shiksha neeti ka naya bana kanoon
ki mantri ji ka pota padne jaye dehradun
aur baki bhains charave

Pepsi-cola Coca-cola tarah tarah ka cola
par pine ka pani gayab jab bhi nal ko khola
jogira sarara jogira sarara

 Jogira (wise man) sarara

On the banks of  the Ganges, stood a man
When asked his name, he said I am India
He stood with a begging bowl

There's a new policy for a new education
Where the minister's grandson goes to Dehradun
And the rest graze buffaloes

Pepsi-cola, Coca-cola, there are many kinds of colas
But there's no water to drink when you open the tap
Jogira sarara Jogira sarara
